Depot POL / HAZMAT Specialist

The POL/HAZMAT Specialist is responsible for managing the daily operations related to the handling, storage, and disposal of Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants (POL) and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT). This role ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations and supports the overall mission readiness.

Major Duties and Resposibilites:

1- Operational Management:
       o Executes the receipt, storage, and issuance of POL and HAZMAT materials.
       o Ensures proper labeling, documentation, and tracking of POL and HAZMAT.
       o Assists in the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with regulations.

2- Inventory Management:
       o Conducts regular inventory checks and reconciliations to maintain accurate records.
       o Utilizes logistics management information systems (MIS) for tracking and reporting purposes.
       o Ensures proper documentation and record-keeping for all POL and HAZMAT transactions.

3- Quality Assurance:
       o Implements quality control measures to ensure all POL and HAZMAT materials meet required specifications.
       o Conducts inspections of incoming and outgoing POL and HAZMAT materials to ensure compliance 
       with standards.

4- Safety and Compliance:
       o Ensures adherence to safety regulations and procedures during POL and HAZMAT operations.
       o Conducts safety briefings and training sessions for personnel involved in POL and HAZMAT  
       operations.
       o Assists in the implementation of safety and environmental control measures.

5- Coordination and Communication:
       o Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely availability of POL and 
       HAZMAT materials.
       o Communicates effectively with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
       o Prepares and submits required reports and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:
       o High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical training or certification in HAZMAT or 
       environmental safety preferred.

• Experience:
       o Minimum of 3 years of experience in POL/HAZMAT management required.
       o Previous experience in an Army supply role or similar position highly desirable.

• Skills and Competencies:
       o Proficient in the use of logistics management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
       o Strong organizational and time management skills.
       o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
       o Ability to perform detailed inspections and maintain accurate records.
       o Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to POL and HAZMAT.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications:
       o Certification in HAZMAT management or environmental safety.
       o Additional technical certifications related to POL operations.
