Job Description:
Serves as the Aviation Safety and Occupational Health Technician for all contractor onsite personnel. Responsible for compliance with a wide range of high-risk operations, facilities, and environmental conditions associated with aviation training, maintenance, and operational activities. Monitors all personnel in the development and sustainment of a functional Aviation and Ground Safety Program in accordance with applicable Military sectors publications and operating Procedures. Promotes and advocates, overall safety program across all aspects of operations in support of rotary-wing operations. Conducts required inspections of maintenance, flight, training, and support operations to ensure a safe operating environment for all personnel.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for conducting aviation safety activities, policies, and procedures, and incident reporting with the appropriate Management chain to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
• Responsible for supporting the safe operation of flight training, employment, maintenance, and flight procedures of Military rotary wing aircraft.
• Plans and organizes the implementation of the Safety Management System in accordance with the Military sector service guidance while mentoring all Ground and Aviation Safety Technicians.
• Responsible for ensuring contractor employees comply with all applicable Safety SOPs and regulations.
• Provides technical leadership, training, mentorship, and guidance to all employees.
• Assists the Airfield Safety Manager in the accomplishment of the assigned functions of the program as required.
• Assists in resolving complex and difficult problems and cases where guides are very general or lacking.
• In cooperation with the military sector and counterpart ASO, validate the Unit’s Pre Mishap Plan exercises.
• Plans and schedules for periodic surveys of activity safety programs and facilities.
• Recommends to management the application of specific techniques, methods, and procedures to eliminate or control hazards identified in surveys, inspections, or through mishap information sources.
• Assists with investigating and analyzing accidents and hazardous conditions to determine the origin, causes, and contributing elements in coordination with leadership. Provides follow-up guidance to the Aviation Safety Manager, QSMA Director, and other appropriate personnel as required.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
Skills Description
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Graduate of Military Aviation Safety.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in military aviation safety environment or corporate-related fields, 3 years of which must be as a designated Aviation Safety Officer.
• Expert knowledge of military safety regulations and best practices.
• Ability to read and apply local regulations to daily operations.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team of subordinate experts.
• Physically fit.
• Qualification as a rated Military Aviator.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree.
